 Anthony Philpott

A Barrister conducting Adjudications with Morecraft Drury

In conducting Construction Adjudications for Contractors he has been described as " a winner of Titanic battles".

He was in-house Legal Counsel with Bovis Lend Lease a multi-national project management and construction company for eleven years.

He holds a BA Hons Law Degree and the MSc in Construction Law and Arbitration from King's College University of London and he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a member of the Society of Construction Law.

Anthony has practiced as both a Solicitor and Barrister, was Called to the Bar in 1987 and now practices exclusively as a Barrister.

Anthony has a number of published legal articles to his name including articles published in the In House Counsel Journal and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has also written a number of articles on Construction Adjudication based on his extensive experience of conducting Adjudications on behalf of Contractors. In one case he took on and succeeded against one of the largest Construction Law firms in the UK, winning an Adjudication that resulted in the Contractor being saved from financial ruin.

Anthony's client said: " We wish to stress that we found ourselves in a David and Goliath situation with the client selecting a law firm who are more familiar with sorting out multi-million pound claims and the size of the task should not be underestimated and nor should the task facing Anthony Philpott, just one man against, believe it or not, no less than three solicitors including one partner and an eminent QC known for his books on construction law and at times dedicated in fighting a truly titanic battle which has evolved into epic proportions....Not withstanding this, Anthony has come through with flying colours and has also been a stalwart in supporting us during some very stressful times which was a rollercoaster ride of emotion of highs and lows and believe you and me, I am not in any way over-dramatising this situation....He has shown phenomenal resilience and an amazing knowledge of construction law and without his help and guile, I very much doubt we woudl have succeeded..."
